About This Game
Power structures can fall apart. So can people.
Dissolution of My Self is a single-player narrative exploration / point-and-click interaction / psychological horror storytelling game.
The story begins after the collapse of a fictional nation. Hector, a blood descendant of the old royal family, is taken to a foreign land by Matvey — his aide-de-camp, blood relative, and caretaker — where they hide away in a cramped rented apartment.
Limited by disability, identity, and a language barrier, Hector is almost entirely confined to this enclosed space. The television plays programs he cannot understand. Outside the window lies a daily life he can never truly reach. Meanwhile, Matvey occupies multiple roles at once: caretaker, aide-de-camp, relative, and servant.
Entangled in care, loyalty, blood, and power, Hector’s cruelty and Matvey’s endurance gradually form a distorted cycle from which neither can escape. After a series of events, Hector begins to give up maintaining his sense of self.
By interacting with windows, furniture, and everyday objects, you will trigger fragmented memories from Hector’s past — and witness those memories gradually peel away.
Game Features
- Narrative Exploration: Progress the story by clicking on objects within a confined space
- Memory Reconstruction: Gradually restore character relationships and historical background from scattered memories
- Changing Interactions: Triggered objects gradually become blurred, lose their function, and leave the room’s narrative
- Psychological Narrative: In a strange and oppressive everyday life, witness the irreversible dissolution of a person’s self

What a compelling and fascinating work!
I just played this with a friend and I must say I am hooked!
The game is really moody an atmospheric, the characters are well defined even in these small interactions, and I'm hooked. I love that we are in effect just as trapped as Hector. He reads as a spoiled child that was never told no, and is now traumatized from the attempt on his life and loss of everything.
Matvey, devoted as he is, is very suspicious and I can't wait to see him more.
The writer posted in the maleyandere sub asking if this is yandere or just abuse and I think it is, reasonably Both. Most yandere are, in essence, abusers, and I think this relationship is super compelling. Can't wait to see more and I would love recs from the writer on more yandere like this one!
Friends comments: "Its fascinating. I think it's a unique angle to take having the player slowly losing their mind, or experience someone else losing their mind. The other element of having it be very clear that they were always a kind of Freak even before being trapped alone here [...] it really makes me wonder how much being trapped here has changed them.I wonder how they interact Now."
For art direction, i love the style. It's moody in all the right ways, I love the style of the portraits. The one hang up for me is that the font effect can make reading some parts a little frustrating, and I would love if that could be toggled on or off in the future.
Thank you so much for your and your friend’s detailed feedback! I’m glad you enjoyed the writing and the art. And I really liked how you called the MC a traumatized little freak in the rating comment haha. I rarely see yanderes who weaponize their vulnerability, so I definitely enjoyed writing him.
As for the font effect, I’ll think of a better way to adjust that in the future. Again, thanks for the comment. It means a lot to me!
Of course! This was such a delight. Wonderful work!
